Bozeman Loses RB, but Maintain Top Spot | Mint AA Football Power Rankings

Hellgate made it two in a row.  Lets see where they rank in the AA.

#1 Bozeman Hawks (6-0)

Came away with a solid win against the Braves, but lost starting running back Joe Olson in the process to what is believed to be an arm injury. They now face the Helena High Bengals, but have home field advantage in their favor. McCade O’Reilly shined at RB after taking over for Olson, so don’t expect the Hawks to struggle too much on the ground.

#2 Billings West Golden Bears (5-1)

The Golden Bears has their way with Butte. Now they travel to Helena to take on a hot Bruin squad. West should come out on top, but don’t sleep on Capital.

#3 Helena High Bengals (5-1)

The Bengals pulled away from GFH after being knotted up early. They have a chance to shake up the standings in Bozeman this week. This is my game of the week.

#4 Flathead Braves (4-2)

Couldn’t quite get the job done against the Hawks. Now the Eagles come to town in a matchup that should feature a plethora of yardage on the ground. The Braves have the better runner in Blake Counts, but Big Sky hasn’t been blown out since Week 1 against West. Expect this to be a dog fight.

#5 Great Falls High Bison (4-2)

The Bison simply couldn’t stop Helena High’s rushing attack  last week. Glacier comes to town this week in what could be a bit of a trap game for the Thundering Herd. The Wolfpack sport a 1-5 record, but have lost three games by a touchdown or less. Should be a good one!

#6 Billings Senior Broncs (4-2)

Big Sky gave the Broncs all they could handle in Missoula last week in what was a back and forth affair all night. Now Senior faces a Butte squad in need of a win to keep their playoff hopes alive.

#7 Missoula Sentinel Spartans (3-3)

The Spartans traded punches with Glacier and came out on top. Now they take on a white-hot Hellgate squad hungry for a third consecutive victory. On paper Sentinel looks like the better team. Luckily for Hellgate games aren’t played on paper…

#8 Helena Capital Bruins (3-3)

The Bruins came to town and put a damper on CMR’s homecoming festivities and in the process evened up their record. Now the loaded Golden Bears come to town on what should be a very physical game.

#9 Missoula Big Sky Eagles (2-4)

The Eagles had their chances against Senior and just couldn’t quite pull it off. Things don’t get any easier this week as they travel to Kalispell and attempt to corral Blake Counts and the Braves.

#10 Glacier High Wolfpack (1-5)

Their record doesn’t indicate how good of a team they are. It’s not out of the question to win their remaining four games and snag a playoff spot. The toughest of those four games figures to be this week in the Electric City. It’s do or die from here out.

#11 Missoula Hellgate Knights (2-4)

Two in a row for the Knights! And on the road at that! The Knights took advantage of some sloppy execution on Skyview’s part and pulled away in the 4th quarter. Hellgate never punted and had their way on offense. Now they face cross-town rival Sentinel in what figures to be a physical, chippy game.

#12 Butte High Bulldogs (2-4)

West handled the Butte last Friday in Billings, now the Bulldogs head back to the Magic City to take on a Senior squad loaded with speed. Expect a lot of points in this one and a more enjoyable trip for Butte fans.

#13 CMR Rustlers (1-5)

The Rustlers were held in check by a stout Bruin defense and had trouble stopping Capital running back Brennan Casey. CMR has a good chance to get back into the win column this week against Skyview, but it won’t be as easy as they might think.

#14 Billings Skyview Falcons (0-6)

Skyview saw themselves in a tie game late in the 3rd quarter last week and ended up shooting themselves in the foot. If not for a silly personal foul penalty and a bad snap on a punt they could have come out on top against the Knights. It’s anyone’s game this week!
