Coach Choate is mad at the media for some reason
In an article earlier this week from MontanaSports.com, writer Andy Curtis posted this interesting tidbit from Bobcat Coach Jeff Choate.
Is the first year coach making such a statement to defend the average play of the MSU offense or is there something deeper going on in the Bobcat locker room?
Hot Take Nate (Cats fan): Damnnnn Choate. Here is what he’s probably talking about – the media is saying offense sucks and the defense is better (just the opposite of last year) and then people are wondering if Defensive Coordinator Gregorak is doing “what he did” at UM and starting shit. I see why he’d get pissed if that’s the case.
Jasper Moonshot (Griz fan): Is he talking about Gregorak? Didn’t he mention the media there?
Z-Train (Griz fan): You dont get that mad if you aren’t already defensive about it for a reason. I can read between those lines. THATS WHAT GREGORAK DOES!!!! He is a diva!
Griz got asked about it first two games and offense just said “yeah we need to get better but everyone is cool.” No story that way. Now there’s a story. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.
Jasper Moonshot (Griz fan): Wow. Can’t wait for him to read our Bruggie takes.
Hot Take Nate (Cats fan): Don’t make a bigger story out of this than it is. Someone must have said something on the coach’s call that pissed him off.
Coach (Cats fan): I’m scared he’s mad at us. I think Choater is just fine. The Montana media is simply trying to write a juicy story and Choate is decisively telling them things are fine and they can go eff themselves.
Bear Tycoon (Griz fan): I’m sure he doesn’t worry about us. Though, it is kind of funny he felt the need to push back on the media. It’s not like Bozeman is a major media hub. He can’t handle questions from Greg Rachac and the bros at Skyline Sports?
Z-Train (Griz fan): Someone probably asked him something along the lines of “Your defense is playing so great is there frustration with your offense?” Griz got that after first two games and all last year. Stitt never went “Allen Iverson on practice” on media, even though we now know Gregorak was being a dick.
Bear Tycoon (Griz fan): Choate might be better suited for NAIA. Less of a hot seat.
Hot Take Nate (Cats fan): Classic Griz fans, acting like their coach is the best in the business. Did you know Stitt is 10-6 overall and 6-3 in Big Sky play? From the way people talk about him at the Mint, I imagined him being 15-1 and 8-1
Jasper Moonshot (Griz fan): In his first year Stitt had to deal with Gregorak splitting his locker room. He didn’t have his personnel. And he had to teach everyone a very specific style of offense.
Speaking of the divide spreading among the MSU team, it reminded me of the Jared Allen quote: “I don’t know where this came from. Like I said, I don’t think anyone on this team knows what ‘schism’ is, let alone could use it in a sentence. I thought it was an STD when I first heard it and I was like ‘whoa,’ we preach abstinence around these parts!”
