Science confirms Montana rocks out more than other states

According to a data driven analysis by Pandora.com, we can now confirm that Montanans like to rock out more than any other state in the country.  Montanans listened to rock music 19 percent of the time according to Pandora, which is higher than any other state in the country.  Also nice to see that we are in good company with Colorado, Alaska, and Oregon finishing immediately behind us.  Noticeably missing from the list were any states on the east coast or California (which was probably too busy listening to itself talk about how great it is).

This chart summarizes the results for the top 10.

We were first alerted to this data on the WSJ’s Speakeasy blog.  That is also where we got the graphic.  According to the WSJ, “Pandora gathered this data ahead of this year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony Saturday, recorded the percentage of listeners playing rock music out of all music genres for five days during March.   Rock on, Montana.
